Twitter Experiences A Brief Outage for Most Users Worldwide
Twitter is down for most users worldwide. A recent fix has enabled the social network for some users but most are still incapable of accessing the service. Web visitors are facing error pages while mobile users can’t seem to access to read or tweet anything as well.
If you can access Twitter, you are one of the few lucky users amongst 300 million users who connect using the social network. In an #EpicFail of a moment, Twitter chose to communicate about the problem via a tweet. Since it was tweeted during the time when most users didn’t have access to it, it was a strange step from the micro-blogging service nonetheless speaking.
A Twitter spokesperson, however, forwarded the Twitter @support account’s message to other platforms.
The tweet reads “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution.”
Timeline of Twitter Outage
The issue was first reported at around 1:20 PM PST according to DownDetector, a service which regularly checks the status of popular websites. The service became offline shortly after that over web, mobile and API (third-party application access). People are facing error pages saying “over capacity” or “internal error”. Some service came back online at around 3 PM but the company’s image handling service and home timelines are still not working.
While some seem to be able to access the social network, most are still incapable to connect to the service. As of now, there is no information on what caused the problem to occur in the first place and how long it will take the problem to be fixed by Twitter’s support team.
