Apple’s iPhone 7 won’t have a headphone socket? Don’t sign a moronic petition

Rumors that Apple will remove the headphone socket from its upcoming smartphone devices appear to be causing otherwise rational people to lose the ability to think logically.

Indeed, more than 200,000 people have already signed up to petition against something that may or may not happen, based on rumors read online. It’s shameful, considering the number of other actual worthwhilepetitions people could be getting behind.

Sure, the thought of a slightly inconvenient situation of having to either use a Lightning adapter or buy Bluetooth headphones, might be the cause for concern for some people, but no one is forcing you to buy Apple’s latest and greatest.

Buying an iPhone isn’t compulsory, no one makes you hand over the cash, nor choose an iPhone as your next upgrade. If you do that, you do it because you want to.

Similarly, Apple has zero obligation to making a phone you want to use. Yep, it’s in the company’s interests to, but it doesn’t have to. It could price the next iPhone at a trillion dollars if it wanted, and all the signatures in the world wouldn’t make a difference.

If the manufacturer of your phone isn’t including features or options you feel relevant and worthwhile, buy a different brand: it’s the only way to truly have a say in the matter.
