Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filings published yesterday give us a glimpse of Google’s second iteration of its Glass headset designed for workplace environments.
The new version is foldable like a regular pair of eyeglasses and packs 5GHz Wi-Fi support, a faster Intel processor as well as an improved camera and battery.
It’s said to be waterproof and more durable than its predecessor. In addition, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Glass now has a greater field of view thanks to a larger prism.
Interestingly, this version bears little resemblance to a flexible design that Google patented earlier this year.
Google hasn’t officially acknowledged the existence of Glass in this configuration and hasn’t set a release date or price as yet.
However, 9to5Google reports that “hundreds of units” have been distributed to Glass for Work partner companies, who will likely load proprietary software on the wearable before selling them.
