Internet Service to Remain Close in Karachi on Muharram
To make the security arrangements fool proof in the biggest city of Pakistan, Interior Ministry has decided to close internet service in Karachi on 10th of Muharram, 24th October 2015. According to the reports of Pakistani television channels, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued directions to all the internet services providers, to close their services on 10th of Muharram in Karachi and different districts of Sindh. This initiative has taken by the authorities after receiving warning regarding terrorist attacks and due to possibility of internet service used in terrorist attacks.
After watching this news on different television channels, people have showed their serious concerns on this issue and protest on this decision. People said that the mobile phone services and pillion riding are also banned on 9th and 10th of Muharram and now government has also closed internet services. People said on social media that this is not the way to tackle terrorists or terrorism in fact government should plan measures that could not affect routine life of the public. Closing all the services and blocking roads is not a fair action.
It is to be noted that there are hundreds of online services providers in the city, which provides services in different countries of the world and it is expected that they will bare huge loss due to this decision.
