Sony’s new Xperia Z3+ Dual is an Android-based smartphone, which is pitted against rivals such as the latest flagships from Samsung and HTC. Compared to its predecessor, the Z3, the new Z3+ Dual packs in some minor improvements.
The Sony Xperia Z3+ has a very similar design to every other Xperia before it, with the same rectangular shape, boxy corners, rounded edges and front and rear glass panels. The Z3+ comes with a 5.2-inches full HD panel offering a resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels.
The Z3+ is also slimmer at just 6.9mm and lighter at just 144-gms when compared with the Z3. The Z3+ is also dustproof and waterproof, meaning you now don’t have to worry about water splashes or dust (or sand) ruining your precious little smartphone.
The Z3+ Dual, as the name suggests is a dual SIM smartphone. The phone also comes with a slot that doubles up as a microSD slot. The phone is available in four different colours such as copper, white, black and green. The phone also supports 4G connectivity and promises a 2-day battery life.
Under the hood, the Z3+ Dual is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor. The phone runs Android Lollipop out of the box. The phone also comes packed with 3GB of RAM, an Adreno 430 graphics and 32GB of internal storage capacity. This storage capacity can be further expanded by 128GB using a microSD card.
The Sony Xperia Z3+ Dual passed our AnTuTu benchmark with flying colours. It’s performance was on par with HTC’s One M9. The Z3+ also comes with a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and a 2.2-megapixel front camera. As with any Sony smartphone, the camera performance was outstanding.
The phone’s camera app also comes with new modes, such as the Gourmet mode and Superior Auto’s ability to recognise 52 scenarios. Superior Auto and SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode are also available for the front camera.
Audio quality of the Xperia Z3+ Dual was excellent. Sony has also added LDAC capability into the smartphone, thus letting you enjoy high quality music tracks wirelessely. Connectivity options on the Z3+ Dual include 4G, Bluetooth, NFC, DLNA, GPS, and PS4 Remote Play, among others.
The Sony Xperia Z3+ Dual is a very able smartphone and its performance is top notch. If you are a Sony enthusiast or are looking to upgrade the Z3, the Xperia Z3+ Dual is well worth its price tag of AED 2699.
