Microsoft to launch Office beta for Android smartphones
This January, Microsoft released Office beta for Android tablets, but today the OS giant has released Office beta testing app for Android smartphones. Microsoft stated that interfaces of Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint have all been optimised for Android phones.
Microsoft also says that this new Office beta app has built-in support for OneDrive, Dropbox, Sharepoint and Google Drive. This built-in support of every cloud-based service will allow the users to get Microsoft documents easily.
If any user is interested and wants to participate in the preview program and serve as a beta tester, a user need to join the Office for Android on Google+ community. Once users sign up there, they can click on the links to the apps to become a tester. Microsoft has also indicated that users will have to wait for Google Play to replicate permissions to become a tester.
Those users who have the Office Mobile app, for them the app will continue to work during the preview stage. General availability of Office Mobile will be announced later for Android smartphones.
