Everything You Need to Know About Punjab Youth Internship Program
Ever since its launch in 2012, Punjab Youth Internship program has been operated with the primary aim of instilling in youngsters the kind of skills that make them creative and productive. This hands on training not only complements the knowledge attained but enhances the chances of employment in relevant sectors.
What are the objectives?
The internship program is mainly about the experience underlying professional engagements. It’s an opportunity for the unemployed youth to work and get familiarized with the professional environment in advance. Needless to say, it’s the best way for them to apply what they learn in the time spent in schools and colleges.
How does the program work?
Each intern is allocated to a private or government organisation depending on the academic qualification they hold. As you would expect with a job, the nature of the professional duty will depend on the academic discipline one has pursued. In any case, this would pave way for a great way of hand-on learning experience in a given department. A fixed stipend of Rs. 12,000 is also paid each month.
Who is eligible to apply?
Anyone, no more than 30 years of age, who has completed 16 years of education and attained a degree from a college or university recognized by HEC is eligible for the program. It is mandatory for the candidate to possess a valid CNIC and domicile of Punjab province.
How long does it last?
The program lasts 6 months but interns can leave before the program concludes if they notify at least 15 days prior to the exit. Though, they will lose the right to receive the completion certificate as well as stipend for the remainder of the internship period.
How does one apply?
All those interested in being a part of the program will have to apply online via Rozee website. Those who lack access to the internet can simply apply using the form available in the advertisement and send it to the postal address of Punjab Information Technology Board. For any further queries, you may contact the helpline 0800-12145 or send an email at help.pyip@pitb.gov.pk.
What NOT to expect from this?
What this internship is NOT is a guarantee for future employment in the organisation of practice or elsewhere. It is not to be confused with a full-time job since it only prepares the unemployed students and professionals for one. Moreover, do not enroll in the program thinking you would be offered accommodation and travelling expenses. There are no more perks other than the stipend and experience
