Microsoft Finally Releases Developer Tools For Windows 10

Developer tools for Windows 10 are here, folks! Microsoft’s next OS may be the most important release of Windows ever, but the company knows that it needs developersto make it a raging success.

When it comes to development, the new platform offers a lot.

And for the developers to make the most of it, the company has announced the release of the software development kit (SDK) for Windows 10, which can be used be programmers to build their applications and bundle in support for new technologies like Cortana and Action Center.

Basically, this is the starting point for Windows 10 application development.

This is, of course, the premiere version of the SDK — expect Redmond to build up on this first release and add new features for developers as the new operating system takes shape over the coming months.

In order to use these tools, you’ll need to:

  • Sign up for the Windows Insider program
  • Install the latest version of Windows 10 Technical Preview
  • Run Windows Update to check for and deploy all the latest updates
  • Uninstall previous versions of Visual Studio 2015, including CTP5 or earlier
  • Install both the Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview and Visual Studio 2015 CTP6
