Sims Re-verification

After more than 4 sit-in between PTA, Interior Ministry, IT Ministry, NADRA and 5 Cellular Mobile companies i.e Mobilink, Ufone, Telenor, Warid and Zong, it was decided by Interior Ministry that re-verification of SIMs through Biometric Verification System (BVS) must be initiated so as to stop any illegal use of sims in future.

Although terrorists in Peshawar Attack on Army Public School have also used sims that were registered through BVS but despite of these Telecom Companies are forced by Govt to re-verify sim of those 120 million customers who had already registered.

To start this process, Telecom companies have today started sending SMS alerts to their customers for re-verification through BVS of already registered SIMs. For this process customers have been asked to visit nearest Service Center, Franchise, Retailer which have Biometric SIM Verification System.

Process Guidelines:

For this process customers have to bring their Original CNIC together for these transactions

  • Buy / Activate a New SIM
  • Change of Ownership of SIM
  • Get a duplicate SIM
  • Mobile Number Portability
  • Re-Verification of your existing SIM
All customers will be re-verified through BVS by these centers. Further customers have to take care of following things
  • They must only re-verify through BVS enabled Outlet
  • Go through Terms and Conditions displayed at sale channel
  • Provide Valid CNIC number to Sale Agent
  • Properly place your thumb/fingers on BVS scanner for verification through NADRA
After this your sim will be re-verified or activated on success. If somehow you could verify you will be guided by sale agent about issues faced.
The most important thing that customers have to remember is that if they have lost their SIM which was verified through BVS then they must Immediately report to nearest center and block this SIM. If any customers failed to do so then they may be held responsible for any illegal or other use.
