REPORTING FROM TAIPEI: MSI’s gaming PCs are known for the bleeding-edge technology inside, and the company is showing off the new stuff at this week’s Computex show in Taipei.

That includes fifth-generation Intel Core processors, Nvidia’s G-Sync technology, and USB 3.1.

The big story is that Intel’s fifth-gen Intel Core i7 processors (Broadwell) are now in over a dozen MSI laptop model lines, like the GT Titan SLI, GT72 Dominator, GS70 Stealth, GS60 Ghost, GE72 Apache, GE62 Apache, GP72 Leopard, and the GP62 Leopard. The GT72 Dominator also features Nvidia G-Sync technology for smoother visuals, in addition to Killer DoubeShot Pro networking and SteelSeries gaming keyboards.

The GT72 and other MSI laptops are slated to have USB 3.1 with the traditional Type-A connector. USB 3.1 has double the theoretical throughput of USB 3.0, for a top speed of 10Gbps. That’s equivalent to first-generation Thunderbolt, and it doesn’t require a new set of cables and adapters.

The MSI PX60 Prestige is a new thin-and-light design that is being introduced with the fifth-generation Intel Core processors. Details are light, but if it’s like previous P-series laptops, it’s bound to have Nvidia GTX-class graphics, MSI True Color technology, and Nahimic audio software.
