Huawei announced its flagship in its Honor range of smartphones – the Honor 6 Plus – at an exclusive event a couple of weeks ago. The phone, which will be exclusively available through Souq.com at an affordable price tag of AED 1399, comes with boatload of features.

Build quality of the device is excellent and so is the overall design. The Honor 6 Plus weighs just 164-gms. Below the display you will find that there are no capacitive buttons. Instead, you will find all the navigation buttons onscreen.

On the top of the smartphone, you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack, a secondary noise-cancelling microphone, and an infra-red module. At the bottom meanwhile, you’ll find just a microUSB charging port, with the main microphone.

One of the stand out features of the Honor 6 Plus is the bionic parallel and dual rear camera with super max aperture. What that means is that the dual rear cameras on the Honor 6 Plus can now double up the CCD and light capturing, thus allowing the camera to focus on subjects within 0.1 seconds and take panoramic images, recording all depth of field information.

The camera’s super max aperture is adjustable from F.095 to F16. And because the camera records all depth of field information, the aperture and depth of field can be easily adjusted before and after taking images.

The Honor 6 Plus features a 5.5-inches negative JDI screen. The screen offers a resolution of 1080-by-1920 pixels and 401 PPI (pixels per inch). Under the hood, the Honor 6 Plus runs Huawei’s very own HiSilicon Kirin 925 processor. This one combines a Quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU with Mali-T628 MP4 GPU.

The Honor 6 Plus also boasts super-fast charging and a better battery life. According to the company, the device can charge fully in just 2 hours and 51 minutes, and the battery backup can last for 1.25 days on heavy usage.

The smartphone also comes with two SIM card slots, one of which also doubles up as a microSD card slot. There’s also 32GB of internal storage capacity and 3GB of RAM included in the device. As mentioned earlier, the Honor 6 Plus comes with two 8-megapixel cameras at the back, while the front camera is also an 8-megapixel one.

The Honor 6 Plus runs Huawei’s Emotion UI 2.3 over Android 4.4 KitKat. Connectivity options include 4G support, Bluetooth 4.0 (A2DP, LE), Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot), GPS (with A-GPS), and NFC.

Overall performance of the smartphone was quite good. The camera on the Honor 6 Plus is something that needs a standing ovation. The camera is excellent. It captures some amazing pictures and videos and does all of that with ease, without you having to change lots of settings inside the camera app.

The Honor 6 Plus is a great smartphone with the right amount of feature-sets, all available at an affordable price tag of AED 1399. If you are on the lookout for a mid-range device with good features and performance, the Honor 6 Plus should be on top of your list.
