HTC Makes a Fashion Statement with the One X9 and Desire Series

Taiwanese smartphone company HTC made an attempt to bedazzle the crowd with the announcement of not one, but four mobile devices, with three of them catered to those who want a touch of design and create a fashion statement, while the other one delivers impressive hardware specs. The first three devices feature a speckled rear side, making them look thoroughly appealing. However, from a hardware stance, where do these devices stand? Lets take a look.

HTC Desire 530

First up on the list we have HTC Desire 530. While it is certainly a looker, it does not exactly shine in the specifications department and is more dedicated towards catering the requirements of the entry-level crowd. Armed with a Snapdragon 210 chipset, we are not quite sure why HTC would resort to placing a previous generation SoC inside this handset when it has a huge list of options to choose from. Perhaps the only saving grace of this device was the fact that it provides expandable storage up to 200GB and is running Android Marshmallow 6.0. This does not necessarily mean that the device will be updated to the next software update from Google.

HTC Desire 630

A slight upgrade over HTC Desire 530 is Desire 630. This smartphone is packing a Snapdragon 400 chipset, and from the looks of it, it should have been running something with a bit more kick. Regardless, the rear camera sensor has been upgraded considerably, and you still get a device that is running Android Marshmallow 6.0, and support for a 200GB microSD card, so it might not be a bad handset for the entry-level market after all, assuming HTC prices it ideally.

HTC Desire 825

The larger variant of the previously announced smartphones is Desire 825. Featuring a 5.5 inch screen size, there is not much difference between this one and Desire 630 other than the fact that this one has a slightly larger battery capacity and also provides support for fast charging (a technology that is not present on any of the two mentioned devices). Only time will tell if these products end up being successful, and that will primarily have to do with the pricing variable.

Perhaps the highlight of the event had to do with the announcement of HTC One X9. In terms of hardware, One X9 triumphs all the previous three with impressive specifications such as a Helio X10 SoC, 3GB of RAM, a large battery capacity and ample amount of expandable storage. According to different sources, One X9 is expected to be priced around $170, making it a highly cheap smartphone for its specifications.
