HTC’s Desire 820 is an Android-based smartphone powered by an octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 64-bit processing power. The device is a follow-up to the Desire 816 and comes with an integrated 4G LTE modem.

The HTC Desire 820 sports a massive 5.5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card. There’s a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and 8-megapixel front-facing shooter, both of which support 1080p video recording.

The Desire 820, which is currently available in Marble White, Tuxedo Grey, Santorini White, Milky-way Grey, Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Misty, and Monarch Orange colours, uses a nano SIM. The phone’s body is made of polycarbonate and the overall design and build quality is quite good.

Under the hood, the HTC Desire 820 runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat operating system, though we are assuming the Lollipop update will be available pretty soon from HTC. The smartphone measures in at 157.7-by-78.7-by-7.7mm and weighs in at 155g.

The only physical keys on the HTD Desire 820 are the volume rocker and power/lock key which are both located on the right hand edge, and are both easily accessible one handed. There’s a flap on the left edge that conceals the nano SIM slot and the microSD card slot.

On the top of the device you will find a microphone and the audio jack, while the bottom edge includedes the micro USB port. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi Direct, and DLNA.

In our AnTuTu benchmarks, the HTC Desire 820 showed good performance. According to HTC, the Desire 820 will be able to offer a battery life of 22 hours. On a single charge, we were able to clock almost a day of battery life, before the device gave up its ghost.

We believe the two major selling points of the 820 would be the 8MP selfie camera and the 64-bit processing support, which the phone will be able to take full advantage of, once it gets the Lollipop update. At a price tag of AED 1599, the HTC Desire 820 is highly recommended.
