Task management app Todoist is saying goodbye to its drabby old interface, and hello to “bold color, beautiful animations, and seamless interactions.”

Specifically, it is embracing Android’s Material Design, a complete UI overhaul Google introduced last year, which adds many new 3D and textural elements into the Android interface.

The Todoist team on Tuesday pushed out a brand new version of its Android app, which offers a fresh look and feel, simplified key actions, and some new features to help you stay organized and on top of your to-do list.

“We left no screen or interaction untouched in our quest to build the most beautifully intelligent to-do list available for Android,” the team wrote in a blog post. “Following Google’s Material design guidelines, we’ve made radical changes to each and every screen and interaction to make sure your to-do list is cleaner, brighter, more intuitive, and overall more inspiring.”

For starters, there’s a new “quick-add” option, which makes it easier to add items to your to-do list. Just tap the “add” button at the bottom of the screen, and type the task name, priorities, labels, and due dates into one line. The app automatically recognizes, highlights, and categorizes all the details for you.

The date input feature also now includes start and end dates to let you capture recurring due dates. This way you can, for instance, get a reminder to “read three chapters every Sunday starting Aug. 1 and ending Nov. 15.”

You can also jazz up your to-do list with one of 10 colorful themes, create sub-tasks to break down big projects into more manageable tasks, invite collaborators on new projects, and swipe to schedule and complete your tasks. Just swipe to the left to schedule something, and swipe right when it’s complete.

Meanwhile, Todoist isn’t the only productivity app getting a Material Design makeover. Dropbox on Tuesday announced it has begun rolling out an updated version of its Android app, which offers a new “plus” button that lets you take a photo right from the folder you want to save it to and a new search icon for faster file retrieval. You can also take action on files — like move, rename, or favorite them — right from the info pane, regardless of whether you’re in your file list or previewing a document.

The revamped Todoist and Dropbox Android apps are available for download in Google Play. For more on the new Todoist, check out the video below.
