Asus Brings Slew of New PCs to Computex

REPORTING FROM TAIPEI: This week’s Computex trade show takes place in Taipei, which also happens to be where Asus has its headquarters. Therefore it’s no surprise that the consumer electronics giant has a large presence on the show floor, and a number of PC-related announcements.

The Asus Zen AiO (below) is a design-forward all-in-one desktop PC made to compete with high-end systems like the Apple iMac with Retina 5K display. The Zen AiO also has an aluminum-and-glass construction, but this system is finished in “Icicle Gold.” Intel Core i7 processors, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics, 512GB of SSD storage, and up to 32GB of system memory are highlights. New technology includes a USB-C connector with USB 3.1 throughput and an Intel RealSense camera for 3D control and input.

Asus ZenAIO

In addition to the Zen AiO, the ProArt PA329Q 4K/UHD monitor is a 3,840-by-2,160-resolution 32-inch monitor made for graphics pros. It’s got a 100 percent Adobe RGB color gamut and 10-bit color support, so you’ll be assured matching colors in your work. The display is also optimized to work with color calibrators, either through the built-in ProArt calibration technology with 16-bit color lookup tables, or with third-party calibrators like Datacolor and X-rite. A mix of DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0/1.4 ports let you connect multiple devices.

Asus ROG G20CBOther displays featured at Computex include the ROG 34-inch Curved monitor and 27-inch ROG Swift PG279Q, both of which featureNvidia’s G-Sync technology. The curved monitor has an ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio and 3,440-by-1,440 resolution, while the 27-inch has a 2,560-by-1,440 resolution and 16:9 ratio.

The ROG G751JT/JY gaming laptop is updated with Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M graphics and G-Sync technology in its display. It’s joined by the ROG G501 thin and light gaming laptop with GTX 900 series graphics, as well as the ROG GL552, which touts easy expandability as one of its strengths. Last, but not least, The ROG G20CB desktop (right) is Asus’ small form factor (SFF) gaming desktop with advanced technology like a sixth-generation Intel Core processor and USB 3.1 connectivity.

The Asus Transformer Book T100HA (above) follows the successful T100TA 2-in-1, combining a 10.1-inch detachable tablet with a keyboard docking station. The T100HA comes with an Intel Atom x5 processor and USB Type-C. It’s expected to come with Windows 10 pre-installed instead of Windows 8.1. The ZenBook UX305 and UX303 are attractive ultraportable laptops, with the UX305 boasting that it is the slimmest 13.3-inch laptop with a QHD+ screen.

Traditional desktops include the Asuspro E210 ultra small form factor USFF desktop, which comes with a VESA mount built in for space-constrained installation. Asus VivoPCThe Asus K20 is a larger SFF desktop with USB 3.1 support, discrete AMD or Nvidia graphics, and support for UHD/4k. The Asus G11CB is a larger gaming PC, with Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics, a sixth-gen Intel Core processor, and a backlit flame job. The G11CB comes ready to broadcast your gaming exploits to the Web and your social media.

Smaller desktops are also featured, including an Asus VivoPC VC65, an USFF PC with a sixth-gen Intel Core processor. The VivoMini UN65H and UN45H USFF PCs (pictured) also give you a lot of desktop in not a lot of space. All three USFF PCs can be equipped with speed SSD or more economical hard drive storage. Last, but not least, the Asus Chromebox CN62 uses a fifth-generation Intel Core processor to give you the power to view UHD/4K video and run processor-intensive web apps.
